The Scoop
<05.01.10> New TF Album Is Recorded!!
The initial recording and very minor overdubbing for Tater Famine's sophomore album is complete! Recorded at The Compound in Ben Lomond by the man, Joe Clements, the album is speculatively titled "Now" "Now." or "Now!" for now. It includes a few songs familiar to TF fans and a few new gems. All the music was recorded live, save a few solos and such, then the vox were laid down like roast beef on rye bread. The mixing starts this week and then soon mastering, and we hope to have the CD album pressed and for sale by the end of the summer (Money's a little tight). However, We will be releasing a digital version sooner through CD Baby, Amazon, and iTunes, and plan to include the album artwork and liner notes in PDF form, so you can print it up and set your pizza down on it.
We think that's been one of the bummers of the digital age. There's no tangible evidence of your coolness, no way to compare things like what kind of strings Johnny used this album, which hair jelly company Mat was sponsored by, or who tailored Matteo's high end t-shirts. Also, No way to be sure you're singing the right fucking words! Well, we want to alleviate those fears and concerns with a nice package (ladies?), including lyrics, thanks, photos, and h'what not. Stay posted, Pedro.
This is NOT the official album cover for Now, just something Jimmy came up with screwing around. The image is an old black-and-white from the 60's riots in South-Central LA. If YOU have a good idea for the cover, send it to taterfamine@gmail.com and we'll post it on the site in the media section. Who knows, maybe we'll even use it. Not bad, huh?
<04.25.10> Live At Awendaw Announced
We're gonna be releasing a live EP this summer from the shows recorded at Awendaw Green, South Carolina on the Winter Tour. Awendaw is the raddest and baddest venue in the Charleston area and hosts the legendary Barn Jams. These recordings are much more indicative of Tater Famine's true sound and energy than the studio recordings. They hope to record a new album there completely live some day. As Matteo mentions, "This place is... reknowned." Go check out Awendaw Green's site.
<08.15.09> Looking to record in Fall '09
We are looking forward to getting back in the studio this September. We have two releases planned to record. The first is our next full length album. The name has yet to be determined but “Off Drums” and “Acoustic Noise Complaint" are options in mind. This will include a lot of songs you have heard live but never recorded. We have a lot of fun new ones we are excited for you all to hear. At the same time we want to record a Country EP with six or seven songs that we enjoy playing but have never released. Sure tracks for the country EP are “White Lightning” and “Life of a Rodeo Clown” We have recorded some of these country tracks before but never officially released because they weren’t quite relevant until a country album came to mind.
